PREPARATION

Proper preparation of your boat prior to transport is essential. This not only ensures that the boat is kept safe during its journey, but also that everything goes smoothly on the day of the transport.

In many cases, the preparation of the boat will involve a number of steps, and may involve multiple stakeholders. For example, if you are transporting a sailing yacht, the mast will need to be stepped with the help of your boatyard prior to the delivery date. However, most other tasks can be completed by the owner prior to transport.

We are very happy to guide you through everything that needs to be completed prior to the transport of your boat. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

OUR PREPARATION SERVICES

Our boat transport preparation services are designed to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible on the day of your boat transport.

Though there are many things that should be completed prior to the day of transport, we will allocate plenty of time to help ensure the boat is fully prepared to be loaded onto the vehicle. This includes completing a detailed pre-transport checklist helping to ensure that everything is just as it should be before the yard lifts your boat onto the transport.

FAQ

Here are some common questions that our customers have about our boat transport preparation services. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us on either +44 (0)118 974 4441 or info@shorelineinterboat.co.uk

This depends on which aspect of preparation you are asking about. Typically, the owner is responsible for making all preparations prior to the day of transport. This would include stepping the mast, stowing or removing all equipment and emptying the tanks. If there is a mast that needs stepping, this is most likely to be completed by your boat year operatives, and should be arranged at least a few days period to transport. On the day of the transport, we will run through our pre-transport checklist, but this is generally just to check that everything has been done, rather than for us to complete the tasks. Of course, if any small tasks have been missed, we will help you to complete them prior to loading the vessel onto the vehicle.

Our state-of-the-art transport vehicles are designed to safely transport, but not lift your boat. Your boatyard operatives would typically complete this, and we will assist in ensuring that the boat is properly situated on the vehicle before fully securing it prior to setting off.

The unloading of your boat is much the same as loading. We will liaise with the boat year or marina staff to ensure that your boat is carefully unloaded from the vehicle. After that, it’s up to you and the boat yard to either launch the boat or place it back on the hardstanding.
